Summer Skincare

I generally like to make small changes to my skincare routine every season. In the fall and winter, I add oils and serums to my routine for a boost of moisture. In the warmer months, I keep things simple and stick to a small selection of products that rejuvenate and hydrate my skin. Here are my current essentials...

1) The first step in my routine is cleansing and recently I have been using the Fresh Soy Face Cleanser. I am usually a bit wary of cleansers with gel formulas because of a bad reaction I had to one last year, but so far, this product has been working pretty well for me. It has a very lightweight texture and always leaves my face feeling clean and looking refreshed. This cleanser also does a surprisingly good job of removing makeup and it can be used around the eyes without fear of stinging! The light cucumber scent is not overpowering at all and I find the fragrance quite pleasant in the morning.

   2) After cleansing, I spray a few spritzes of the Herbivore Botanicals Skin Toning Elixir all over my face. I've got to be honest with you, the packaging of this product is definitely what tempted me to purchase it. I mean who can resist that minimalist, scandinavian design? Not Me! After using this toner for a few weeks, however, I can safely say that it has been keeping my skin hydrated. I use this product as part of my morning and evening skincare routine, but I also spray it on my face throughout the day to keep my skin looking fresh and radiant. I also love the scent of this product. The mixture of rose and ylang ylang is very calming.

    3) I purchased the Glossier Priming Moisturizer at the beginning of the year and I haven't been tempted to use anything else ever since. I LOVE everything about this moisturizer. The thin and comfortable formula, the dose of moisture it provides, and of course the fact that it comes with stickers to customize the tube! I also love the priming properties of this product because it helps ease makeup application and seems to minimize the appearance of pores.

     4) I don't use the Kate Somerville ExfoliKate on a daily basis, but I find that it is great for days when my skin is looking dull and lackluster. After cleansing, I massage this product all over my face, leave it on for about a minute, and then gently pat my face dry. I am left with a more radiant and youthful appearance to my skin, almost as if I had a facial! I think this product is the perfect instant pick-me-up and I highly recommend trying it out.

PRODUCT RAVE: Rimmel Scandaleyes Shadow Stick

Hey Guys! I hope you're all doing well :) As I've mentioned in previous posts, I'm not a huge lover of eyeshadow. I just feel that I look way too dolled up with it on and can never find shades that look natural on me. Nevertheless, on my recent trip to the drugstore, I couldn't resist picking up the  Rimmel Scandaleyes Shadow Stick in Bad Girl Bronze. I remember hearing good things about this product on some of my favorite beauty blogs so I decided to give it a try. The verdict? I can safely say that this eyeshadow pencil is FREAKING FANTASTIC! The first time I tried the pencil, I used it directly on my eyelids and blended the color out with my fingers. I was left with a light wash of bronze on my eyes that instantly brightened up my face. This is how I typically use the pencil on an everyday basis. If I want to make my eye makeup a little bit more dramatic, I layer multiple applications of the color to create a brown smokey effect. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone who wants an eyeshadow that can be worn casually as well as for special occasions!

Hope you found this post enjoyable! Thanks for reading :)

Favorite Nail Polishes ATM

Hey Guys! I've been wearing a few nail polishes on rotation recently so I thought I'd share them with you. These colors aren't particularly wintery, but I personally think they are great for any time of year. Also in case you weren't aware, all the names of the products are links to sites where you can purchase them. Let's get started!

Porchester Square is definitely the most neutral of my current favorites and probably the one I wear the most. I would describe the color as a mixture of grey and beige a.k.a. greige. This shade is pretty subtle, but still looks cool and sophisticated on the nails. The formula is also really fantastic! I have the gel effects version of this shade and I love the super glossy finish.

Essie Truth or Flare

I think this muted grey blue shade by essie is perfect for those who want to wear color in a subtle way. This shade reminds me of cool and cloudy days so I've been using it a lot this winter. I find that the color is opaque in two coats and it has a nice, glossy finish.

Butter London Bossy Boots

Now this is definitely one of the most-loved polishes in my collection! It is a pistachio green shade that looks different, but equally beautiful on every skin tone. To be honest, the formula of this polish is a bit thin and runny, but I put up with it for the unique color!

Mint Condition by Ulta

This is my most recent find and definitely the brightest of the bunch. I was lacking a green-y turquoise shade in my collection and this polish has filled the gap. A lot of brands do shades like this, but I was super impressed with the formula of this one and definitely want to try more from the range!

Hope you liked this post and maybe added some polishes to your wishlist! :)

Hey blog readers! There are a few beauty products that I've enjoyed using recently so I thought I'd share them with you.

Caudalie Hand and Nail Cream

I found out about this hand cream from a friend and immediately went out and purchased it after trying it just once. I think Caudalie has definitely mastered the PERFECT hand cream formula! This cream doesn't leave my hands feeling greasy, but still keeps them moisturized and soft. It sinks in really quickly so it is a great one to use throughout the day.

Rimmel ScandalEyes Liner in Nude

These Rimmel ScandalEyes pencils are some of my all-time favorite eyeliners. They don't smudge throughout the day and the color selection is great. Recently, I've been using the nude pencil on my waterline. I find that it brightens up my eyes and makes me look more awake without being as obvious as a white eyeliner.

NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer

I have had a lot of late nights during the month of December and this concealer has definitely come in handy for covering up my dark circles. The consistency of this product is quite thin so it doesn't cake up under the eyes, but somehow still provides fantastic coverage. The finish is also very natural which is especially important for concealer. Definitely a holy grail product for me!

YSL Rouge Volupte Shine in Pink in Paris (13)

I had been lusting after this lipstick for quite a while until I finally took the plunge and bought it over the summer. The formula of this lipstick makes it extremely wearable. It feels like you're wearing a lip balm, but you get the pigmentation of a lipstick. The shade that I have is gorgeous rosy pink. I definitely feel that you can get similar products at the drugstore for much less, but if you want treat yo self, then you won't regret picking up this product! Also , I just couldn't resist the princess packaging ;)

Origins Super Spot Remover

Of course, I had to include I skincare product! This month my skin has been pretty angry as a result of all the sugary holiday treats I've been eating. That's why this blemish-busting spot treatment has been a life saver. I just dab a little bit of this gel on a blemish and the next morning it has either disappeared or become significantly smaller. It is quite drying on the skin so if you sensitive skin, this may not be the best option for you.

Face of the Day: 12/27/14

Hey blog readers! Hope you're all doing well :)I'm currently in Palm Springs with my family for a short vacation, but I thought I'd put up a quick face of the day post since I did something a little bit different with my makeup today.

For my base, I used the Laura Mercier Oil-Free Tinted Moisturizer. This is one of my favorite base products because it evens out my skin-tone without making me look like I'm wearing too much makeup. It's basically like an instagram filter in real life. I concealed my dark circles and spots with the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer. Despite the extremely messy packaging, I think this concealer is amazing. I locked everything in with the Maybelline Dream Matte Powder, an everyday essential. On my cheeks, I applied a tiny bit of the Revlon Blush in Racy Rose. Racy Rose is a beautiful medium pink shade that adds a brightness to my face without being overpowering. I used Benefit Watt's Up! to highlight the tops of my cheekbones and my cupid's bow. This is the perfect highlighter in my opinion because it creates a subtle glow and doesn't look like I straight up put glitter on my face. For my eyes, I started off by applying a sheer wash of the Purminerals Eyeshadow Pencil in Bronze. Then I added a bit of the dark brown shade from a Japonesque Eyeshadow Duo to my crease. I followed up by lining my eyes with the Loreal Carbon Black Eyeliner and applying generous lashings of the BUXOM Lash Mascara. I filled in my eyebrows with my all-time favorite pencil, the Anastasia Brow Wiz in Dark Brown. I finished the look off by using Clinique's Chubby Stick Intense in Grandest Grape, a deep berry color, on my lips.

Review: Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray

I'm typically not very particular about my hair products. When I'm buying a shampoo or conditioner, I usually just choose the ones that smell the best. In terms of styling, I don't do much to my hair but straighten it because I just can't be bothered to fuss about with styling tools every morning. This summer, however, I found one hair product that has become a going out essential. Ladies and Gents, I'm talking about the Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray. This product is one that has a cult following so even though I'm not hugely into haircare, I still wanted to give it a shot. I tried this it for the first time on a day when my hair was super greasy and flat, a perfect opportunity to see if it was worth the hype. I spritzed a generous amount of this spray all throughout my hair and made sure it was evenly worked in. My hair instantly looked bigger and definitely less greasy. It works equally well as a dry shampoo and as a volumizing spray. The product also smells amazing and I'm tempted to pick up other bits from Oribe with the same scent.

I'd love to get more into haircare so if you have any tips or product recs, leave them in a comment below!

REN's Speedy Skincare Offering

I recently placed an order on the Sephora website and received a deluxe sample of the Ren Flash Rinse 1 Minute Facial. I was thrilled to get this product because I've loved everything I've tried from Ren skincare so far. This treatment is supposed to make skin look energized and radiant in just one minute. I know, quite a bold claim. Basically, you apply the product on dry skin and add a little bit of water to massage it in. Then you leave it on for one minute and rinse it off. I tested this product out yesterday, the day of my last and hardest final exam. I was looking pretty rough and hoped that this facial would be the perfect pick-me-up. Did it work? Yes, very well! The texture of this product is similar to that of toothpaste and it melts into an oil when applied to the skin. After washing the paste off my face, I felt that I looked fresher and definitely more awake. I don't think the results were really dramatic, but I do feel that it is a great option for days when you don't have time to do a full-blown deep cleanse and face mask.

Hope you enjoyed this quick review! Have you found any new skincare gems? I'd love to hear about them :D
